Explore answers to common questions about our therapeutic approach and how we can support your journey toward self-discovery and mental wellness.
A: The free 15-minute phone consultation at Intuitive Treatment Center is designed to give you an initial opportunity to get a simple feel for the therapist and their approach, helping you determine if it’s a good fit for your needs. During this brief call, the therapist will also assess your situation to decide whether they are the most appropriate provider for you or if a referral to another specialist would be more beneficial. Please note that this consultation is not intended for crisis screening or emergency situations; if you are experiencing a crisis, immediate professional help should be sought.
A: Intuitive Treatment Center does not accept insurance to ensure that clients receive personalized, high-quality care without the limitations and administrative delays often associated with insurance providers. This approach allows our therapists to focus wholly on your individual needs rather than paperwork or insurance restrictions. For a more detailed explanation of our insurance policy and how it benefits your therapy experience, please visit our insurance page on the website.
A: We offer transparent billing options and can help you navigate private pay arrangements during intake, including a sliding fee scale and superbills. Pro Bono slots are also available on a first come first serve basis.
A: At Intuitive Treatment Center, we understand that navigating professional credentials can be confusing. An LMSW (Licensed Master Social Worker) is trained in social work with a focus on therapy, advocacy, and connecting clients with community resources. An LPC (Licensed Professional Counselor) holds a master’s degree in counseling and specializes in therapeutic techniques for mental health challenges. Psychologists typically have a doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) and are trained in psychological testing, diagnosis, and treatment of complex mental health disorders. Practice owner, Rebecca Hassell, is a Licensed LMSW, which means she brings extensive training in social work along with a commitment to holistic, client-centered care. This background supports Intuitive Treatment Center's approach of integrating emotional insight with practical strategies to foster well-being.
A: At Intuitive Treatment Center, medications are not prescribed directly. Since medication management requires licensure typically held by MDs, DOs, psychiatrists, or PMHNPs, our center focuses on providing expert therapeutic services. However, if both the client and clinician agree that medication may support the treatment plan, Intuitive Treatment Center is committed to facilitating referrals to qualified medical professionals who can evaluate and prescribe medications when appropriate. This collaborative approach ensures clients receive comprehensive care tailored to their individual needs.
A: As of May 2026, at this time, clients must reside within the State of Michigan to receive services virtually or in person due to state licensing requirements. Practice owner Rebecca Hassell, LMSW, will pursue dual licensure in Ohio later this year. If you live in another state but would still like services, please reach out, and we will look into your state's licensing requirements.
A: Your initial phone consultation is a safe space for us to get to know each other. We will discuss your goals, answer any logistical questions, and schedule an intake where forms will be completed as well as a treatment plan.
The timeline varies depending on your individual needs and objectives. Some clients find short-term clarity in a few months, while others prefer ongoing support for long-term growth and resilience.
A: As of May 2026, ITC is primarily a virtual practice. ITC does offer nature sessions at local parks for an additional fee, pending weather and appointment availability. Check back later as practice owner, Rebecca Hassell, LMSW, is looking into office spaces to rent in Monroe, Michigan.
A: Therapy is a valuable tool for anyone seeking better mental resilience, emotional intelligence, or clarity. If you are going through a transition or feel stuck, clinical counseling can provide the support and growth you need.

A: Standard individual sessions typically last 50-60 minutes, providing ample time for reflection and clinical progress in each session. Due to not accepting insurance, if additional time beyond the traditional 60 minutes is needed, this can be arranged pending appointment availability and an additional fee.
A: The relationship between a client and their therapist is an important one. Just as you don't get along with everyone in your life, you won't get along with every therapist. If that happens, ITC can facilitate a referral to another therapist or practice.
A: At this time, ITC is not an emergency clinic and does not offer crisis support during non-business hours. Please review the crisis info page for support and additional information.
A: Outpatient or OP is when you see a therapist traditionally once a week, biweekly, or monthly. Intensive outpatient programs, or IOP, are a step up from traditional outpatient, where you typically attend a mental health program for 3 days a week for half a program day (typically 3 hours). To expand further, a partial hospitalization program or PHP is a step-up from IOP in which you attend a mental health day program for a full day, 5 days a week, typically. IOP and PHP focus on crisis stabilization. In these programs, you attend a didactic therapy group focused on topics such as relationships, cognitive distortions, values, coping skills, and more. You also have individual therapy sessions and medication reviews if needed.
